1. Location
Location may seem like an easy decision but if you’re planning for the mum-to-be, think about where she may be comfortable. Maybe home is her sanctuary, or she has a favourite restaurant, cafe or pub. These locations will often allow for large bookings or may even have a function room available. Are you planning lots of games? Make sure you have space for all the fun. Maybe a garden might be a better option.
2. Date
Picking a date that suits is tough, in the lead up to the birth mum-to-be can often be spending time nesting and getting ready. On average showers will be held 6weeks before the birth. Hosting the shower after the birth shouldn’t be vetoed, however, you can use this as a meet the baby party and may help guests decide on a gift. Making sure mum-to-be’s closest friends and family are available too.
3. Games
Organised games may not be everyone’s cup of tea but keep the activities flowing to make sure mum-to-be and guests have a great day. From word scramble and who knows mum best, to guess the bump size and baby grow decorating there is a lot of fun to be had at a baby shower.
4. Creating memories
Celebrating the birth of a baby is a big deal for any mum-to-be, think about a guest book or photo album for mum to remind her of the day. Make sure all guests leave sweet messages of encouragement for mum ahead of the birth, or messages or predictions for the baby. Maybe parenting advice would help. Ask mum what she would prefer or keep it as a surprise gift for her at the end of the celebration.
