Hey! I’m Kelsey and alongside my partner Tom and our three children Reign, 3, Tommy, 2, and our newborn daughter Ophelia we are The Ryan Family. We are currently in the whirlwind of raising three young wild children and we love sharing this journey on our Instagram page @theryanfamily_
Having three young children close in-age means we are no strangers to the ever changing newborn market. It can be really overwhelming as a first time parent, or even second or third time around, knowing what is an ‘essential’ for your baby and parenting journey. We wanted to share the products that we have used and trusted over the past 3 years and make up our newborn essentials guide.
Our number one must have product in our house is a well stocked nappy caddy. Filled with nappies, wipes, spare outfits and muslins.. making those poo explosions more manageable. There is nothing more stressful than trying to find everything you need, with a crying newborn baby added into the mix.
Next we have travel changing mats… can you imagine a time where you’re trying to change a nappy on the front seat of the car, balancing on your lap or frantically trying to make a space in the boot - because we’ve been there! A travel changing mat is an essential for on the go fitting perfectly into your changing bag.
Another must have of ours is a newborn baby wrap, especially for those early days. It can be so difficult trying to get anything done with a newborn around, a baby wrap is the perfect hands free option to keep your baby close, comforted but also is a game changer when you have more than one little one needing your attention.
With all three children we have wanted a stylish but compact bedside crib for overnight sleeping. We have found the SnuzPod ticked all of our boxes, especially this time round we have made use of the ‘tilting function’ as our newborn Ophelia is struggling with reflux.
Lastly, something we use everyday is the Dockatot Deluxe+, designed for supervised lounging and playtime. We travel lots to visit family and have found it is a familiar piece of home wherever we go, it is light and portable meaning we can use it on the go between family members homes. Check out their range on the Mabel and Fox website, you’re bound to find one to fit your style.
